Collection: Things We Lost in the Fire

“Things We Lost in the Fire” explores the emotion of grief, loss, memories, and ultimately hope. As we walk through the gallery and face the art, we are automatically entered into the state of rummaging. Through each piece, the tangible becomes intangible. Visible impressions, colors, stains, lines, figures, and marks become an indication and a record. Memory is ignited: sounds, chatter, enthusiasm, laughter… sadness… a reminder of the collective energy of a well-oiled, carefree, machine. Through walking the space of the gallery, we are reminded of the space we carry within, simultaneously exhibiting the beauty behind these frozen moments of art. As we look through the things that survived, we find the presence of the truly irreplaceable things we have lost. In this place of acceptance, we are surprised to find a spark. We are free to dream again, to hope... to rebuild after the fire.
